We rescued/stole our mangy little mutt (he really does have mange, and is a mutt) Yankee from the pound. We actually convinced the workers to give him to us instead of another couple. He was a fabulous dog, cute and sweet, at least up until the point that I started to hate him. Not real hate, but a lot of anger for sure.
Two months ago Yankee broke his toe. It won't heal and has cost us about $600 dollars at least. Being in a cast for so long has made Yankee crazy, which is driving me crazy. I feel bad for him and for us for having to live with him.
A few days ago I taped a sock to his cast to keep him from chewing on it. He ate the sock and is now in the process of pooping it out. Some "poop sock" was hanging out of his butt this morning by a thread. (literally by a sock thread) I had to pull it off with some paper towel. While I was doing this I stepped in poop (not "sock poop," just standard issue dog poop.) This made me pretty mad because I was just trying to get the kids to play group. Some days I'm not sure if it is the kids or the pets that exhaust me more.
